Northwest SEED

On April 28, 2009, Northwest SEED attended a very encouraging meeting of the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association, titled "Energize Your Neighborhood Energy Connections". Along with Seattle City Light and the Department of Planning and Development, Northwest SEED gave a brief presentation related to neighborhood energy matters.

Northwest SEED reviewed its work with Roosevelt-Ravenna residents and presented preliminary results of the residential energy survey. The report on the survey can be viewed here. As well, three project groups were identified for future work. These three groups are 1) Neighborhood Weatherization and Bulk Purchasing of Materials, 2) Community Renewable Energy Project and 3) an Energy Education Seminar. Fifteen volunteers expressed interest in working in these project groups.

We believe that these groups will effectively build upon the work that residents began in January. Northwest SEED looks forward to providing some initial resources to each group, and is very grateful to the RNA and residents for allowing our presence in the April 28 meeting. In the coming days, we will begin contacting the groups and providing them with some starting-point resources.

Thank you for all of those who attended the meeting and for everyone's hard work getting to this point
