At the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association, we are looking for new ways to meet the local community, chat with our neighbors, and hear their opinions and concerns about Roosevelt. Our latest event was a ‘mix-and-mingle’ for residents of the “Eleanor apartments” on 67th. Over a glass of wine and some pizza, we introduced the past and present of the Roosevelt neighborhood, explained what the RNA does, and talked with some of the building residents.
In addition, we encouraged people to write-down: “What I love about Roosevelt”, and: “What I wish could be changed about the neighborhood”. We got many great suggestions – lots of people commented that the walkability; beautiful parks; many stores and restaurants; and closeness to Green Lake and the U. District make Roosevelt a great neighborhood (we think so too!). We also heard important concerns including bus service to downtown, traffic, and parking issues – these ideas will help guide what the RNA focuses on in 2017.
The Eleanor is a beautiful building, with a spectacular rooftop clubhouse and deck, cozy lobby area, other great amenities, and a friendly and professional staff (with a great blog). There are apartments ranging from studios to 3-bedrooms. Thanks to all who attended, and particular thanks to Leah from the Leasing Office for agreeing to host the event, and helping us get everything set up.
The RNA is planning to hold more events of this kind in apartment and condo buildings in the neighborhood – please get in touch with us at communications@rooseveltseattle.org if you are interested in holding a similar event.
