You may have noticed that Roosevelt has a number of empty lots in areas zoned for commercial use and denser housing. There are plenty of reasons for that, but each of those lots represents a future real estate project, and together they’ll shape what Roosevelt becomes next, continuing the path our neighborhood has been on since light rail construction began back in 2012. The Roosevelt Neighborhood Association (RNA) thought it was worth tracking these projects and sharing what we know with our neighbors, showing how these changes to our built environment will help Roosevelt keep growing into a denser, transit-oriented neighborhood centered on the light rail.

We call this project “Roosevelt Horizon” because these projects sit just beyond the horizon of what we can see in the neighborhood today. So far, it includes an interactive map with links to profiles of a dozen commercial property projects around Roosevelt. Each profile includes images of what the site is likely to look like once it’s finished, an overview of the project, its zoning and timeline, any issues (and what the neighborhood can do about them), the site’s valuation history, and a detailed list of resources.
