Thanks for your interest in attending a Roosevelt Neighborhood Association meeting. We are a friendly group of your neighbors dedicated to making Roosevelt the best, safest, cleanest, happiest neighborhood we can. Roosevelt is changing rapidly, and we all deserve a voice in how that happens. Everyone is welcome at our meetings and your input is valuable.
What do we do at the RNA?
- Research and inform our neighbors on issues affecting our neighborhood
- Advocate for improved traffic, pedestrian, and bicycle safety
- Invite elected officials to meet with us
- Help to beautify the neighborhood with litter pickups and other projects
- Sponsor a coalition of small businesses
- Host community events
- Explore fair and forward-looking housing solutions
- Work with the Emergency Hub group to help our neighbors prepare for disasters
- Provide an interface between the city and the neighborhood
- Advocate for increased and improved parks and other open areas
- Feature a Business of the Month to promote our local businesses
- Run a Facebook page with more than 3,000 members
Details:
- The RNA meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 PM.
- Meetings are in the Cedar Crossing Community Room, 6620 Roosevelt Way NE.
- Enter from either 66th or 67th into the central courtyard and go through the door just south of the play area
- The room is accessible, but please let us know in advance if you require this, so that we may meet you at the 66th Street entrance, where there is an elevator
What you can expect at the meeting:
- We like to jump right into business, and usually have an agenda full of ideas and plans.
- All voices are equally important, and we do our best to make sure everyone has an opportunity to share.
- If there is an issue we are not addressing that you think is important, please bring it up. We can’t promise we will discuss it right then, but it will be placed on the agenda for a future meeting.
- Because we can’t always explain everything we are talking about (that sometimes ends up taking the whole meeting when we try!), we are writing “explainers” for the website to give you some background on the issues we are discussing. These are still in progress, and we don’t have many up yet. So, if you have any questions about anything we discuss or anything else about our meeting or organization, please feel free to contact us at rna@rooseveltseattle.org.
