This noble-yet-adorable pigeon is the brainchild of Sasha Somer, a Roosevelt-based designer and illustrator. Sasha, thank you for your incredible work!

Our 2026 musical lineup
This year, we received 88 submissions for main stage performances. Thank you to all the bands who submitted!
Here are the seven bands you’ll be hearing from at this year’s Rooted in Roosevelt:
Paper Trails
Paper Trails plays high energy, danceable folk music, including a mix of bluegrass, old time, Celtic, and original folk. Paper Trails was born from a folk jam at Cowen Park, and you can regularly find them playing there!
Vallenato Panamericano
Vallenato Panamericano was founded by international students in Seattle, united by a love for music and the richness of Latin cultures. Over the years, the group has grown in size and sound, now featuring 14 musicians (including multiple Roosevelt residents!) and a vibrant dance team representing five nationalities across the Americas.
The Floor is Not Lava
“The Floor is Not Lava” is a mantra as much as a name. It’s a reminder that even when the world is at its most chaotic, music can make you feel safe. Earworm hooks from the glory days of late 00’s dance floor hits blend with the drive of the alt rockers of the era.
The band formed after college friends Ahmed Latif (Drums), Sean Hampton (Bass and Keyboard) and Walter Le Duy (Guitar) relocated to Seattle and were introduced to Faith Becker (Vocals) in 2022. Grungy with a groove, they’ve been described as a cross between of Heart and Sunny Day Real Estate. Their members are proud to live and work near Roosevelt!
Cloud Nine Singers
Cloud Nine is an a cappella ensemble specializing in oldies, ballads and novelty songs in a classic barbershop style. One of Cloud Nine’s members, Sandy, is a 16-year Roosevelt resident!
Funhouse
Funhouse is a Seattle band with rock, punk, and grunge influences, including The Stooges, Led Zeppelin, and Soundgarden. They released their debut album Invasive Species in 2024 and play at venues around the city, with plans to release their second album in 2027. Funhouse members have lived in or near Roosevelt for the past five years, and two members also teach music in the neighborhood.
Great Jade Labyrinth
Great Jade Labyrinth (GJL) is a four-piece instrumental jazz-funk fusion group featuring tenor saxophone, piano/keyboard, bass, and drums. Blending tight rhythmic grooves with expressive improvisation, the band crafts a dynamic sound rooted in jazz tradition and driven by funk energy. Their music balances precision and spontaneity, creating immersive performances that resonate with diverse audiences.
Two GJL members live near the Ravenna/Roosevelt intersection, and their sax player grew up jamming with the RHS jazz band!
ThorNton Creek
ThorNton Creek creates music about life, love, and loss in the Americana/country folk/rock tradition. Their musical tradition is steeped in the hills of Southwestern Virginia, with key influences from John Prine and Neil Young. Seasoned professionals all, TC has played festivals and clubs from Seattle to Nashville. The band has deep ties to Roosevelt High School—and they’ve collectively spent a lot of money at music shops around the neighborhood!
